Today I have found out that, a single browser instance (any browser) with some flash and javascript in it can use up to 15% of my CPU constantly. This keeps my CPU temp high, my fans constantly running, my computer completely hot. At the same time it constantly drains my battery and this is just a single browser instance, with nothing significant running in the background. It is unbelievable.

Recently I have noticed that being in a constrained environment like using a mobile phone to write an e-mail makes me more concious of how I perform. For example when sending an e-mail I try to be as to the point as possible or when checking out the news on RSS I tend to read only those items thar are necessary.
This looks very similar to the consumption patterns in rich vs poor countries where people tend to spend extra when they have more moneynon items that they don’t need much. Also it looks like the way we take on designing for the environment where we use only those things necessary and avoid excessives.
I am not sure if this improves our productivity though. Some times we need to go through hoops to achieve the most simplest of tasks.
It’s no wonder iPhone Mail.app is crashing on me because of Yahoo!. Yahoo!’s web-mail is not even moving e-mails to folders. I have understood one more time how much I like Gmail.
This morning, my iPhone Mail.app started to crash continuously. After I open the application. It keeps running for a while, then crashing to the home page. I am not sure what triggers the crash though I will keep this post updated if things get fixed. I use a non-jailbroken up-to-date iPhone with Gmail and Yahoo accounts set up.
Update 1: I have found out that my Yahoo! account checking my SBS e-mail is crashing the Mail.app. Disabling it temporarily helped.
Update 2: I believe I am back to normal. The problem seems to be the result of 1200 messages in my Yahoo! inbox. I have archived them and things seem to be OK now. Though I had the much trouble archiving them.

You may have noticed that i have written a silly post regarding a non-existing google twitter client and fortunately noone else seems to have take i seriously.
While i was thinking about this blog, i have found out that i won’t be able to keep up with the things happening in the tech space since i am not so quick to respond. Also i won’t be able to produce interesting posts since i am not that smart and i can’t spare much time.
I have noticed that i can however make fun of and speculate mildly on those large tech companies and tech celebrities because there is no time limit on that. I can write tongue-in-cheek articles though they won’t be funny and smart and probably be a lot boring than Google’s official blog. Above all, i may enjoy it and maybe somehow others may enjoy it too.

@problogger’s #31dbbb have radically changed the way i think about my blog. It is now the eighth day, and I am unfortunately a little left behind. But that is mostly about me, and is not related to the pace of the challenge itself.
Anyways. The first assignment was to ceate an elevator pitch for the blog. Thinking on this, i have realized that i have to understand what i can do with my blog rather than what i would like to do. That is really important. It is about the realization of your abilities, the constraints and the limits.
Other challenges were great and even this far i am seeing increases in my traffic. I even got link love – although it is from one of the fellow chalengees (is this even a word?). By the way i really liked how Paul mated the list post and link love challenges to create the mother of all lists 
i really envy that kind of smart people.

Twitter is getting more crowded and more insincere with the passing day. It is now more than possible to run into spammers, blind followers, marketers, self-proclaimed gurus and so-called marketers.
To keep focus and priceless time from being wasted, one needs to take some precautions. Below find some of my suggestions and feel free to add your ideas in comments:

Here is my take on the most essential 3rd-party iPhone Apps. Stock apps like Mail, iPod, Photos, Safari, and web shortcuts do not count.
If you use Facebook, than Facebook App is a must-have. It lets you easily navigate and socialize on the world’s most popular and fastest growing social network.
Nimbuzz (and Skype)
Since the days of ICQ, we have been IMing. And we have been IMing on multiple networks. Nimbuzz has a great user interface, works with most of the networks out there and it is free. Since I haven’t been able to get VOIP to work, you can assist it with Skype too.
Twitterfon
The twitter frenzy is on. You must be living an offline life if you haven’t heard of the web’s latest craze. Get online or talk to some nerds around you and go to twitter.com (don’t forget to follow me @alpayerturkmen). Twitterfon is the best free twitter client for the iPhone IMHO. If you are more into it, try the Retweet app to follow the most re-tweeted. The app was free when I grabbed it, but may be paid at the momen
Wapedia
Oooh, the sweet satisfaction of reaching the information – fast. Wikiamo, Quickpedia and Wapedia are some of the apps that let you quickly and easily wander around Wikipedia. Wapedia, of all those three has the best looking and performing GUI.
Stanza (and Kindle)
Though not as full featured (in terms of functionality and screen size) as the Kindle, iPhone is a great place to read. Either grab great free titles accessible through Stanza, or use Kindle App for iPhone from Amazon.

I have changed the punchline.
Problogger has set up a course, for 31 days, to teach ways to become a better blogger. And I have joined.
Today was the first day, and the introduction was great. He advises to create a punchline for your blog. This is quite insightful since one has to clearly define what his blog is all about to create that. I had to decide what I would like to write about.
Actually, I have never ever tought about that before. I was just writing.
Now, I think that I have to be more careful on what I write. If I am not, people will just leave the blog which is about nothing.
So. I read a lot, on things happening on and around the web. I think about them. I play with them. But I don’t produce anything. I will from now on. I hope I will. I will speculate on ‘why’s and ‘how’s of stuff happening that I read about.

So you are on twitter for a while. Like me… You are enthusiastic about it. There are thousands and millions of people, sharing on what they call now the statusphere. You meet new people, you find those you already know. You find great ideas, funny sites, new insights.
One day you look up and see that the number of people you are following is so high that the number of tweets they send out is much much higher than you can keep up with it. Because you have followed back most people that follow you. You followed every person who wrote something you like. When you look at the tweets, you have no idea what they are talking about. Much worse, you don’t know who they are.
So you decide to unfollow those people, and they start to unfollow you. Is this a game? Is this a MMORPG where you come together with people to form clans and kill monsters?
I am sure twitter will (or already has) become something that we take for granted. But how will we use it? @scobleizer says that he follows everyone because he says he wants everybody to be able to send a direct message to him. While others (including me) say that you can’t follow even 100 average speed twits. So what do we do? Do we follow everyone, bi-directionally? Do we follow only those that matter to us?
What I think is that this will come to a hybrid solution as everything else. We will use a tool, something like TweetDeck, to filter out the noise while keeping the communication channels open. I am quite surprised to see that TweetDeck is available today, to keep you sane.
