I have upgraded to the latest version (0.9.0.4) of utorrent’s recently release Mac version. My MBP was producing a very high fan noise which was the result of utorrent hogging one of my cores completely.
After a quick search on google I ended up on their user forums. Some users suggested shutting DHT off (I wonder what it is about) from preferences, and restarting the application. Now we are all silent and peaceful 
Update: For those of you, still having those problems on the mac, switch to transmission will ya? That is what I did…
